Let me introduce myself...

As a postpartum doula, I strive to be a calming influence for new babies, their parents or parent (biological, adoptive or by surrogacy) and all the people who make up their family.

I have experience as a mother of two and a grandmother of 6 so I know a thing or two about babies. During my 2+ years of training and certifying as a postpartum doula with Doula Training Canada I have learned a great deal more about the ways to help in the first few days, weeks or months of a newborn's life.

I am flexible & ready to support all families in the best way possible for them.

So whether you:

have multiples
are a single parent
are challenged by a disability
have other young children
are suffering from postpartum anxiety or depression
are a same sex couple or
just need some guidance.

I will listen to you and help in whatever way I can!

What I Can Do for You As Your Postpartum Doula

Support you, your partner and your baby.

Help with feeding issues whether you're breast/chest feeding, supplementing or using formula

I can listen to your birth experience, help with any questions you or your partner might have concerning the baby or yourselves.

I can help you get organized so you don't feel so overwhelmed.

I can hold the baby while you have a shower or even prepare a meal for you.

As you wish, you're in charge...

I can help with any questions you might have about breast/chest feeding or exclusively formula feeding.

I can also help feed the baby from a bottle of expressed breast milk or formula.

Or I can help you keep hydrated and nourished while you're occupied.

I can take care of your baby either during the day or overnight so you can get some

much-needed rest.

Is there a specific area in Ottawa that you cover?

I'm willing to support families across Ottawa from Orleans to Kanata. I live downtown so it's relatively easy for me to drive to most areas.

Is a postpartum doula similar to a babysitter?

A postpartum doula stays with you and your baby in your home to help support you and your partner as you get used to your new roles. I can look after your new baby or other children but it would be during the time that you are at home also.

What is the age range of the babies you support as a doula?

I support babies from newborns to one year in age.

What about partners? Do you help them too?

Absolutely. I am there to help support the whole family, as defined by you, in any way I can. So if your partner has concerns or questions that they want some input on, I'm glad to help.

Can you drive me to my appointments?

Unfortunately, I cannot. The insurance we have as postpartum doulas does not allow it.

Payment

How much do I charge for my services? And what hours are possible?

I charge $30 an hour during daytime hours from 7 am to 7 pm and $35 an hour overnight.

A standard visit can be 2 or 4 hours; I request payment by e-transfer in advance of all visits.

I'm happy to offer a discount on my fee by $5 an hour for clients requesting

a total of 8 hours or more of my services.

I am also happy to support all my clients through email or text at no additional cost.

Please Note: All the details of payment and hours will be discussed at an initial meet and greet visit (at no cost) and will then be detailed in a written contract that we both sign.
